Rings

Rings as you know are circles.  Circles we stick our fingers through.  There is so much to say about the symbolism of circles: they have no beginning or end (like god), they lead back to themselves (like life….from dust we are made and to dust we shall return), they are ubiquitous from the sun in our sky to ripples in a pond, to electrons.  It’s rumored that Rilke said, “There is nothing so perfect as a circle,” but I can’t find it in his writings.  Pythagorus got all the ancient Greeks geeking out on circles perfection, Emerson used circles as a central metaphor for life.  Preachers pontificate about circles during the blessing of rings at traditional marriage ceremonies.  So just imagine us saying all that smart stuff here in a really moving way.

These rings aren’t perfect circles but don’t worry life isn’t perfect and neither are your fingers!  Seriously, your fingers are not sections of little round pipes, go ahead look, honestly they are as close to a square with the corners knocked off as a circle. Anyway if you want a perfect circle ring this one is not for you but it will fit on your finger..probably.  We make them differently, some with scrolls (swirly bits), some tapered down (pointy bits) some????  We do file and sand them down so there shouldn’t be any sharp nicks that would cut you.  Alas it’s definitely a unique ring, a way you can wear your values and get some conversations started with those around you.  We can size them and they are easy to adjust at home as well.

Most often we make these from the long bolt that holds the “stock” (often wooden part you put up against your shoulder and maybe lean your cheek up against when shooting) of many rifles to the “receiver” (part of gun that holds the “action” together and is legally the “firearm”). But any longish and skinnyish trifle of metal we can get our tongs to hold will do.
