Writing Ink

$30.00

  • Corked gun ink bottle
  • Sumac Tannins bonded with iron
  • 1.75 oz

Here at last is a 1.75oz bottle of small batch hand made writing ink that is as exhilarating and powerful as the guns it was made from. Imagine having at your disposal this mysterious murky pool of transformation and being able to dip your nib into the possibilities and then scratch out lines continuing the dynamic process. Maybe you write a love note, maybe a journal entry calls for your slow reflection, maybe you have a song that is ready to be penned, maybe you create a scene unfolding in the your grey matter behind your eyes. You already know the pen is mightier than the sword; bring peace to this world now and leave a message for future generations in an ink that is consistent with your convictions.

This ink comes to us through a collaboration with our alchemist friend, Thomas Little of “A Rural Pen.” The ink, with a RAWtools stamp on the label, was made from a myriad of bits and bobs left over from firearms we chopped up at our events. Oh yes, the ink on the label, that’s made from guns too. But of course that cool ol’timey yellow – that is magically made with tiny bits of iron extracted from guns.

The ink goes on as a pale, smoky, cool grey, and quickly oxidizes into a darker color; the shade varies depending on the paper used. The ink is made using a historic formula of extracting and dissolving the iron from guns with Sumac, instead of Galls. This ink is for dip pens only – it cannot be used in fountain pens.
