Shotgun Magazine Scoop Shovel

$123.00

Looking for something fun and a little whimsical? Looking for something ultra light to give to a young sandbox shoveler, or a favored gardener or maybe even a little treat for your own self? Looking for something as simple as 1,2,3? Well, alright, alright, alright, this just might be the ticket!

Made from the magazine tube of a shotgun this thin gauge metal will hold its shape even when digging in the South’s renowned red clay. It’s true, really; I tried these out here in North Carolina as we were prototyping them.  We put a crease in the bottom and keep a gentle curve up into the handle which provides extra strength. And just for fun, we often melt a marble in one end.

I’m a Quaker and we have a thing for Light. The marble lets light shine through the handle making it a symbol of how, when we let the Light shine through us, we too can be transformed into an instrument of Peace. Sometimes if we have the “nut” of the magazine tube we leave that on…instead of installing a marble. The nut can be unscrewed to let light in and be used as a way to let any dirt plugging up the handle pushed out.

There are always pros and cons to all our choices. Speaking of choices, have you emailed Stan Wilson lately? That’s our prodigious friar of coordinating, Stan Wilson at  stan@rawtoolssouth.org. He’ll be glad to tell you what color marbles we have in stock! This is the kind of bonus information you get for your diligence in reading all the way to the end. It’s also the kind of random thing that lets you know this was written by a real human. We don’t want to serve you up more AI slop in our product descriptions. We are Spirit made through and through.
